The Punishment of the Gods

The Punishment of the Gods

Once upon a time, long long ago, there was an amazing and fantastical land called Egypt. The land was so famous around because of its trees, clear water and vast food. It was a dreamland for all the animals, but especially for two friends: a young deer called Imhotep and a hippo called Keffren. They were raised together, so Egypt is basically their home. They were the happiest animals ever; they really loved their house.

Far in the universe, there are also two supreme friends: The moon: Keops and the sun: Nilo. They were the protectors of all the land in earth by order of other supreme being known as God. Keops and Nilo were worried about the land of Egypt; lately humans have been destroying the forest and contaminating the water to build their houses and to raise their cattle. Imhotep and Keffren started noticing this issue as well and told the other animals.

Keops and Keffren discussed that problem to God. They argued about a solution, but God was angry about the situation. God thought about a punishment to humans, but Keops and Nilo convinced Him not to kill the humans or the animals. As a fair punishment, God told himself about destroying that amazing land of Egypt and turn it into a sad place. He told Nilo to raise his temperature especially in the land of Egypt.

Many years passed and the fantastical land of Egypt became a vast and sad desert. There were few trees, less water and food. All the grass became pure sand and rocks. The air was hot.

Imhotep and Keffren were depressed and sad, but they adapted to their new house; some of the other animals migrated to new places, but some of them also adapted to the desert. Nilo at first was also sad about raising his temperature, but then everyone in the universe realized that animals and even humans continued with their regular lives. At last they learned their lesson: they don’t need to destroy what God made for them with love.

Humans and animals started working together; at first it was difficult for the animals working with humans, because of them, the land of Egypt became a desert.

Humans now thank everyone in the universe for bringing them a new way of living. Humans knew they were the reason God punished the land, but they keep on going in life: a fair punishment for everyone.

My Pottery

My Pottery

My type of pottery is Egyptian; represents animals and fantastical beings: The sun and the moon. I find every egyptian stories to be interesting, wonderful and mysterious. Egypt is full of mysteries and is one of my favorite countries around the world; its culture is unique and amazing. I made a hippopotamus, a young deer, the sun and the moon. The hippopotamus and the deer are the animals that lived before Egypt became a vast desert; they were the happiest animals in the land. The sun and the moon were the guardians of the lands of the earth. God also appears in the story, but not as a main character. My pottery tells a specific story and everything is related to ancient Egypt and how this country became a desert.

I chose this type of pottery because animals are a very important part of my life; also because I love ancient stories and cultures, I find them fantastical and I would have loved to live in that era. My story is pretty interesting because it tells how God punished all beings in Egypt for destroying the environment.

Military Base (Speech)

Military Base near your house

What would you think if your government decides to build a military base near your community? The first think that probably comes to your mind is that your community would be secured and that there will always be help when you need it; but building a military base also has its advantages and disadvantages. Military bases have two single purposes: protect people and always be at their service.

In my case I truly support the fact of building a military base near my community; if something happens, for example an earthquake, you can always use the services that the military bases offer to people. Militaries should be friendly with people; they must not make you feel awkward. In some occasions, militaries are rude and make you feel harassed. An advantage is that violence would be reduced by the protection the militaries offer to the community. A disadvantage would probably be that a lot of trees would be taking down and a lot of animals would die or move from their home. Militaries also offer you clear information about what you have to do in case of an emergency, because militaries are well trained people that know how to act or do in any case. I don´t support people cutting down trees, because trees are really important in someone´s life; also people destroying the environment of animals and forcing them to move from their place, that is something I truly hate.

I support the Government about building a military base near my community, but at the same time I don´t support that idea:

Advantages:
- Help when you need it.
- Secure area (protection).
- Order.
- Clear information of what you have to do in case of an emergency.

Disadvantages:
- Cutting down tress.
- Death of animals and forcing them to move from their places.
- Amount of space taken.
- Rude militaries.

Building a military near your community is something that every Government around the world should consider if they want to erradicate violence. People would be more prepared and well informed about how to act in case of an earthquake or in a war; that is why I support the fact of having a military base near my house: My family would always feel secured and help would always be there when you need it the most.

The reality of young people in Guatemala

The reality of young people in Guatemala

Guatemala is a country that needs to improve quickly in the matter of education, posibilitites and stable jobs. 70% of people in Guatemala are younger than 30 years, so that means we still have the chance to change the country for good. The program gave a lot of reasons why Guatemala is how it is nowadays.

The principal reason is poberty. More than a half of Guatemalans population live in conditions of poberty, for example: the place they live is in bad conditions, they don´t have any water, they don´t have electricity, etc... ; so this means less education for kids by lack of resources. Poberty is a common situation in a lot of countries in Central America. Few kids with low resources have the opportunity to enter to a school, but some of them actually finishes it. Other kids also have the opportunity to enter to highschool and to the university by giving the best they can. By entering to the university, young people have the opportunity to change a lot of things and improving their ways of living by encouraging others to do the same thing.

Many young people leaves school by several other factors: they may have bad friends that encourage them to enter to gangs or to consume drugs, or kill. These factors make young people to follow bad steps and to loose their track in life. They also led to jail or even to death.
There is also the most dangerous opportunity to keep going on life: the migration. People thinks that  moving from place to place they will get better job, but probably it isn´t.

Everyday people finds their true love and have kids, right?, these kids depend on the way the parents or family live and their surroundings. If the parents live in poberty, same with the kids. If Guatemala continues living in poberty, imagine in the future (2050): 30 million people with no jobs ; more pregnacies; people dying because lack of water and food, etc. The future is now in our hands, but we must act quickly (if not, Guatemala will only get worse every single day); when that happens, the entire country will live in situations of poberty.

Guatemala needs formal jobs with people that has potencial. The Government must open new doors for young people who have the potencial and talent to do great things; by doing this, Guatemala would be improving. There is also a problem, people with low resources have less opportunities to develop potentials and talents, so the Government must do something to change that. Guatemala also needs young people interested in politics, but i the good way. The future politics are the ones destinied to change the country if they were educated with the intention of improving the country without corruption.

There are young people who are working by themselves to make Guatemala a better country. This company is called "Techo". They build houses to poor people all around the country. Its a noble cause because they got nothing in return but a smile and thanks of the poor people.
